During this 4 hour workshop you will be introduced to the painted Delft method of tile decoration. Traditionally blue cobalt on a white tin glaze. You will begin with 6 bisque fired terracotta tiles, you will learn how to glaze with a traditional tin glaze, whilst this dries you will have time to plan out your designs, whether 6 individual tiles or a set with a design running across all 6. Methods of transferring the design to the tile will be demonstrated as will the use of cobalt & brushes. You will be hand painting on glaze as the potters of the 16th & 17th Century did, producing an authentic result, with contemporary or traditional design.
Help with design will be given if you wish, we will have a wealth of books and images available.
Tiles should be available for collection from a week after the class.
